Ron Mobed
President, Academic & Professional Group
Ron Mobed is the President of Cengage Learning's Academic and Professional Group and a member of the Cengage Learning Executive Committee.
Mr. Mobed joined Cengage Learning from IHS, a large-scale information services company, where he led the transition to insight-based solutions and successfully managed a global reorganization. Mr. Mobed served as Vice Chairman of IHS from 2008-2009, and as Co-President and Chief Operating Officer from 2007-2008. From 2004-2007, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of the IHS Energy Segment and helped to lead this group's Initial Public Offering in 2005.
Prior to his time at IHS, Mr. Mobed worked at Schlumberger International, a leading oilfield and information services company, for nearly 20 years. He advanced through a variety of operational and management positions in Africa, Europe, and Asia, and then took on a series of senior management roles including Global Vice President of the Information Management business unit in the U.S.
Mr. Mobed is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a non-executive director of Argus Media. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Trinity College, University of Cambridge and a master's degree in petroleum engineering from Imperial College, University of London.
